RiggerSafe® — FPSO Load Control Programme
FPSO Load Control Programme
Offshore Guyana · 2025–2026

The Last 300 mm

Every FPSO hand injury
at a suspended load
happens at the same distance.

Close enough to guide it. Close enough to lose it. RiggerSafe® changes the contact point — and keeps the hand outside the pinch zone, crush zone, and final landing zone across every deck operation on your FPSO.

The Doctrine

The crane carries
the load.
RiggerSafe® controls
the direction.

The hand that controls a suspended load on an FPSO deck is not in an unusual position. It is in the only position the task allows — close enough to guide, close enough to be caught.

RiggerSafe® does not change the task. It changes the contact point. The hand moves to the tool. The tool moves to the load. The worker stays outside the line of fire.

Length selection is not a comfort decision. It is a distance control measure — the exclusion zone is set when the operator picks the tool, not when the load moves.

The Last 300 mm Rule™
"The hand that controls a suspended load is always within reach of the hazard. RiggerSafe® is the length in between."
FPSO Deck Operations — Where the Hand Enters

The task gave the hand
no safer option. Until now.

  • 01
    Subsea Equipment Deck Handling
ROV frames, umbilical reels, subsea trees, and valve packages guided over the stern — hand contact during the final metre of swing is where injuries occur. RiggerSafe® sets the exclusion distance before the load starts moving.
  • 02
    Pipe & Riser Bundle Landing
Connecting spools, risers, and J-tube assemblies requires precise alignment guidance. The crush point is the same as the connection point. Extended push-pull reach removes the hand from that zone.
  • 03
Turret Mooring & Swivel Deck Operations
Rotating and positioning heavy swivel components and mooring components in confined turret access areas. High-consequence environment; hands-off doctrine is not optional.
  • 04
Module & Skid Placement on Process Deck
Topsides equipment installation — compressor modules, separator skids, heat exchangers. Blind-side landing and congested deck conditions combine. Final positioning is consistently where hands are exposed.
  • 05
    Cargo & Supply Boat Transfers
Net slings, containers, and tubular cargo transferred over the side in open-sea conditions. Vessel motion adds unpredictability. Swing control with hands on the load is the highest-risk moment in routine resupply.
Site Rule — applicable across all FPSO operations
No hand on a suspended load. No hand between load and structure. No hand inside the final landing zone. Use RiggerSafe® before the hand enters the hazard.

Custom lengths available on request
Stern Deck
Cargo Transfer
72″ – 96″ (HSF-RS-Y-72 / Y-96 or B-72 / B-96)
Maximum exclusion distance for open-sea supply boat transfers. Swing loads approaching deck edge; the 96″ keeps the operator well outside the load's arc.
Process Deck
Module Landing
48″ – 72″ (HSF-RS-B-48 / B-60 / B-72)
Industrial Blue selected for contrast against topsides steelwork. Skid and module landing alignment where pinch points are structural rather than moving.
Pipe & Riser
Connection
42″ – 50″ (HSF-RS-Y-42 / Y-50 or NG-42 / NG-50)
Mid-length for riser guidance and spool alignment. Enough reach to hold off the pinch zone; short enough for precision work in constrained riser hang-off areas.
Turret & Mooring
Deck
36″ – 48″ (HSF-RS-B-36 / B-48)
Confined turret access geometry limits tool length. Blue colourway visible against the turret structure; controlled contact without the load touching the hand.
Maintenance
Machinery Bay
21″ – 36″ (HSF-RS-NG-21 or HSF-RS-B-24 / B-36)
Tight-access mechanical work, pump removal, motor replacement. Neon Green for internal plant visibility; Blue for direct-comparison against machinery housings.
Length Selection Rule
Choose the length that keeps the worker's hand outside the pinch zone, crush zone, and final landing zone. The reach is a control measure, not a preference.
Bright Yellow — HSF-RS-Y
5 sizes
21″ · 42″ · 50″ · 72″ · 96″
Maximum-visibility flagship. Open yards, fabrication shops, offshore decks with high ambient contrast requirements.
↑ FPSO: stern deck, cargo transfers, open process deck landings
Industrial Blue — HSF-RS-B
6 sizes
24″ · 36″ · 48″ · 60″ · 72″ · 96″
Widest length range. High contrast against structural steel and bright deck environments. Precision alignment work and confined topsides geometry.
↑ FPSO: turret, mooring deck, module landing, machinery bay
Neon Green — HSF-RS-NG
5 sizes
21″ · 42″ · 50″ · 72″ · 96″
Signal colour for indoor plants, confined spaces, and enclosed or chemical-rich environments where visibility against visual clutter is critical.
↑ FPSO: process plant interiors, enclosed utility decks, pump rooms
SKU Format

e.g. HSF-RS-Y-96 · HSF-RS-B-72 · HSF-RS-NG-42
One part number resolves to one exact specification — no ambiguity across sites, regions, or reorders.

Implementation — FPSO Deployment Programme

From specification
to site standard.

  • 01
    Task & Environment Assessment
We review your FPSO's critical lift operations, deck environments, and access constraints. Output: a length and colourway recommendation per operation type.
  • 02
    Part Number Specification
Defined SKUs per operation zone — suitable for inclusion in your site materials register, vendor master, or FPSO operations manual. Reorderable without re-specifying.
  • 03
    Trial Kit Supply
Initial supply of recommended lengths and colourways for operational evaluation. Supplied with documentation for JSA / LOTO programme integration.
  • 04
    Programme Rollout & Reorder
Fleet-wide standardisation across FPSO operations with defined part numbers per zone. Reorder by SKU — no re-evaluation required unless the task changes.
Critical Limitation — Read Before Specifying
RiggerSafe® is not lifting equipment. It must not be used to lift, suspend, support, arrest, pry, or carry load weight. The load must always be supported by the crane, hoist, or approved lifting system. RiggerSafe® is a hands-off load-control tool — not a load-bearing rigging component.
